A joint project of the three art institutions in East Iceland: Skaftfell, Slaughterhouse and Eiðar for the Reykjavik Art Festival 2008.
Journey is intended to be a trip through the halls of surprises, a journey with the artists to their school of thought, passing corners of their minds and chambers of their souls. With Journey the audience was invited to a festival of experience on a bright springday in East-Iceland with installations and happenings and something that Possibly can move on.
Curated by Björn Roth.
The exhibition and happening is a result of Skyr LeeBobs three week residency at Skaftfel and a week of preparation in Brussels. In this collaboration they worked on the themes Panic and Control, using the concept of Wunderkammer as a framework to stage the work, bringing theatricality into the museological context. The town of Seyðisfjörður, the fjord and its surroundings proved to be unpredictable, charming, revealing, deceiving and disturbing. This experiment was the start of an ongoing process. SLB consists of artist Guðni Gunnarsson, dancer Erna Ómarsdóttir and musician Lieven Dousselere.
Artists Petur Kristjansson and Christoph Büchel will also perform in Seyðisfjörður.
