The Bookshop – Projectspace / Reaction Intermediate
Performative series of short exhibitions by locally invited artists alternating between separate rooms at the Bookshop – Projectspace.
The concept for “A day of 13 successive half hour exhibitions alternating between two rooms in Skaftfel Bókabúð” was initially tried out in Nomi’s Kitchen in Glasgow in 2011 where the two editors of the danish Art journal Pist Protta collaborated on inviting 11 artists from Copenhagen and Glasgow to a similar row of short exhibitions.
Required of the artists is that they are able to carry their exhibition and in- and de-stall it in 15 minutes. This quick format (30min pr exhibition) gives the project an informal character and opens up for the possibility to test ideas and work temporally within a limited time-frame.
The many exhibitions also results in a large number of openings and therefore we expect a cheerful day. There will be both food and something to drink as well
Project by;
à se Eg Jørgensen, b. 1958 in Denmark, graduated from the Danish Design School in 1989. She works as an artist and graphic designer and has for 30 years been co-editor on Pist Protta, Danish art-periodical. à se´s practice spans all kinds of printed matter, very fond of paper, colours and books. Her most recent artwork: Kompendium 6 and Kompendium 7, whimsy collections of preprinted stationary. She is based in Copenhagen and is the owner of à se Eg Aps. www.hos-eg.dk
Jesper Fabricius, b. 1957 in Denmark, studied film editing at The Danish Film School 1987-1991. He has been the editor of art magazine Pist Protta since 1981 and is also a publisher of books on art, artists books, poetry, using the name Space Poetry since 1980. Ráðhildur Ingadóttir b 1959 in Iceland, studied in Emerson College, Sussex and St Albans College of Art and Design, UK, from 1981 – 86 and has been active as an artist since then. She works with a variety of media such as text, drawing, wall-drawing, wall-painting, sculpture, video and installations. Ráðhildur has been appointed artistic director of Skaftfell – Center for Visual Art, Seyðisfjörður, in 2013-2014. She lives and works in Copenhagen and Seyðisfjörður. www.radhildur.com
Tumi Magnússon was born in Iceland in 1957. He studied art in Reykjavik, Iceland and Enschede, The Netherlands, from 1978-81. His works today his works have very much to do with space, in the form of stretched photographic images or of video and sound installations. He was a professor at the Iceland Academy of Art from 1999 to 2005, and at the Royal Danish Academy of Art from 2005 to 2011. Tumi currently lives and works in Copenhagen and Seyðisfjörður. www.tumimagnusson.com
