Skaftfell welcomes new artist in residence Roman Sokolov, a documentary photographer and graduate student at Danmarks Medie- og Journalisthøjskole (DMJX). Born in St. Petersburg, Roman is now exiled in Denmark. In 2017-2018, he attended the Academy of Documentary and Art Photography “Fotografika,” St. Petersburg. During his 6-week residency at Skaftfell, Roman will investigate how Iceland is coping with the effects of climate change. He will meet with climate scientists who are engaged in research in a wide range of fields, including reforestation, biodiversity, melting permafrost, renewable energy, greenhouse farming, and water therapy.
