Students from the fine art department at the Iceland Academy of the Arts participate in the annual “Workshop Seyðisfjörður”. This is the sixteenth workshop and is lead by Björn Roth and Kristján Steingrímur. The duration of the workshop is two weeks and concludes with an exhibition opening Saturday March 5 at 16.00 in the Skaftfell gallery. On exhibition at new works produced over the period. The workshop is the joined venture of the Dieter Roth Academy, Technical Museum of East Iceland, Skaftfell and Iceland Academy of the Arts.
The heading of the show, NO SOLO, refers to the fact that art is collaborative, the artists could not execute the show if it were not for the help of the townspeople and each other. They are either waiting for replies, on their way to ask for assistance or cashing in favours back home. After holding a series of solo shows at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and writing their self reflective BA essays, the group has decided to renounce the solo and refuse to do everything on their own. Exhibition preperations can be followed on Snapchat, Listahaskolinn.
The show is open daily from 15.00- 21.00, and by appointment, until the 8th of May 2016.
NO SOLO is supported by the East Iceland Regional Development Fund and Gullberg in Seyðisfjörður.
