On Oct 30 a new agreement was signed by Þórunn Eymundardóttir, chairperson of the Skaftfell Group, Auður Jörundsdóttir, chairman of the Skaftfell board. The Skaftfell Group is a grassroot association founded in 1997. The group founded Skaftfell Art Center, a non-profit organisation, and has the primary role of being the backbone of Skaftfell. The main purpose of the group is to appoint two board members in the Skaftfell board, as well as two alternatives, every three years. All kinds of landscapes
Landscape and nature has always been an inspiration for artists. Icelandic artists Nína Tryggvadóttir (1913-1968) and Gunnlaugur Scheving (1904-1972) are no exception from that tradition. Even though their key works in the exhibition “All Kinds of Landscapes”, Síldarbátur (e. Herringboat) by Gunnlaugur and Eyðimörk (e. Desert) by Nína, are not conventional landscape paintings they do present a kind of a conclusion of these two artists’ development and experiments through the years.
