The deadline for the Skaftfell residency program in 2015 expired on September 1 and nearly 180 applications were received. A selection panel goes over the applications and results will be announced to the artists in the coming weeks. In recent years, more than twenty international artists stayed on an annual basis, total of three artists at a time are staying for one month or longer.
The aim of the program is to support the creative process of artists and give them space and time to work on their artistic creation. The program is self-directed with the possibility of support from the staff at Skaftfell, who can assist participants in pursuing and realizing artistic research and practice.
The selected artists are Skaftfells connection to the international art world and actively take part in the public program in many ways: with exhibitions, open studios, artist’s talks and educational program.
