Media professor Michael Soltau, born 1953, Oldenburg (Germany) lives and works in Leipzig and Varel. His long-standing artistic work explores analogies between nature and media. This places processes of representation in photographic and multimedia contexts at the forefront.
Image and representation, as well as our perception of the world shaped by imaging media, are subjected to a visual, location-specific staging. Image, sound, and installation are condensed into a site-specific overall statement and are often only experienced in their respective temporary and local contexts. Photography and video loops engage in dialogue in the space – artwork and presentation merge into an autonomous artistic statement.
